Let's be real—we all have those habits, right? The good, the bad, and the downright ugly.

Maybe it's that late-night snacking habit keeping you up at night (and sabotaging your weight loss goals), or the endless scrolling leaving you feeling drained instead of refreshed.

You know these habits aren't serving you, but kicking them to the curb?

That's the tricky part.

The good news is you're not alone! And I'm here to tell you that creating lasting change is totally possible.

In this blog post, I'm spilling the tea on how to ditch those bad habits for good and replace them with healthy ones that actually make you feel AMAZING.

Steps to Develop Good Habits & Daily Routine that Works for You

Now, let’s discuss the five steps to help you develop good habits and master daily routines.

Start with Small Adjustments

You may think you need to achieve everything together in one day, but nothing gets done by the end of the day. Instead of trying to fix everything at once, it’s better to make tiny and consistent changes.

Change Paradigm:

“THE MORE CHANGE YOU NEED, THE LESS YOU CAN HANDLE.”

Instead of trying to fix everything at once, opt to make tiny, consistent changes that feel easy and fun for you.

This way, your mind will be able to handle the positive changes effectively. Change is scary for the reptilian🦎 brain (the most primitive part of our brains), regardless of whether it is a good or bad change.

For example, if you want to lose weight, don't go on a crash diet because it can harm your health.

Developing a new habit requires fun, knowledge, discipline, and time. Trying to change overnight will leave you in a sea of overwhelm. You want to avoid these thoughts from popping in, “This is too much; I can’t do this.”

Start small and build up gradually. Make small changes that feel good in your body. This is the best way to make positive changes and stick to them.

The easiest way to tackle small adjustments is by remembering this paradigm:

“Small hinges swing big doors.”

Once You Make the Decision, Commit To It.

Listen, I know this is better said than done. I genuinely believe this is possible for you as it is for all of us. Putting in the work will yield results; you have to believe in yourself. If you struggle to believe in yourself, having someone like a coach hold your belief for you can be life-changing.

Remember, we’re social creatures, so support does make it easy to find success in your health and well-being goals.

Sticking with good habits can really boost your chances of success. You'll face many obstacles and challenges, but staying determined helps you handle them with a positive perspective.

Focus on your main goal and slowly make it a part of your life. This dedication will help you stay on track and make those good habits a permanent part of your daily routine. Remember, success comes with consistent effort and staying committed to your goals.

Be Positive (Optimistic, with a Dash of Realistic).

A positive mindset is your secret weapon for building lasting habits. It's not about ignoring challenges but facing them with optimism and a can-do attitude. When you believe in yourself and your ability to change, you're more likely to overcome obstacles and stay motivated. So, ditch the negative self-talk and embrace the power of positivity! Your future self will thank you.

Focus on Building a Routine

To make a new good habit stick, do it every day. Keep at it until it feels natural in your daily routine. You must know that success comes from building the right habits for YOU. Only you will know that through trial and error. Lean into taking consistent, messy action forward.

For example, quitting smoking is hard because it's already part of your daily routine, and it has become a part of your identity.

Who am I if not a smoker? Who was I before this?”

To change this, adjust your routine and replace it with something better.

Start small and practice daily. Make the new habit a part of your routine. This way, you can quit bad habits and replace them with good ones, positively changing your life.

Do The Journaling

Journaling is a good habit that helps you clear your mind every day. It can improve your thinking skills and help you make changes in your life. When you write down your pure, shameless thoughts in a journal, you can be honest with yourself and make the changes that best suit your lifestyle.

I love journaling. I do it every day. I recently integrated writing with a fountain pen in my journal, and it has made a world of difference because fountain pens are such an amazing experience to write with! Remember, focus on making the new habit you want to integrate “fun.” This is the key to unlocking lasting change in your health and overall life.

When you recognize your mistakes and successes, you can reduce them and overcome obstacles. It replaces bad habits with good ones and helps you make faster progress in forming new habits. Keeping a journal keeps you focused and helps you reach your goals by recording your daily work.

Conclusion

You might have heard that it takes a few weeks to form a habit, but that's not true; it just starts feeling easier. You need a good long-term plan and discipline to make something a regular part of your life. In reality, it's hard to do without them. You have to keep repeating the habit for a while until it becomes a natural thing. It takes extra effort and focus in the beginning.

Invest time in working on these tips and adding them to your life. Make sure to stay focused and motivated. With the right approach, you can develop good habits that stay and improve your daily routine.

There are no absolutes in life. You can constantly adjust your daily routine and good habits as circumstances change, using the same procedures you used to establish your initial routine to support the development of new, beneficial good habits.
